    P osition Summary

    Axillon Aerospace is seeking a **Project Manager, Supply Chain & Logistics **to lead key strategic initiatives that enhance the performance of our logistics and supply chain management operations. As a critical member of our Supply Chain team, this role is responsible for driving execution excellence across freight, cold chain, and supplier logistics while influencing internal and external stakeholders to align with program and business goals.

    This individual contributor role reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain and will work cross-functionally with procurement, planning, quality, operations, and engineering to develop and deploy high-impact logistics and supply chain strategies. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in aerospace or high-reliability manufacturing, understands the complexities of supplier and freight management, and can lead through influence.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Project Leadership – Logistics & Supplier Delivery

    • Lead cross-functional logistics and supplier delivery initiatives that align with Axillon’s supply chain strategy.
    • Act as the execution arm of logistics and supplier performance improvement projects—monitoring, tracking, and reporting outcomes.
    • Develop logistics and freight readiness plans for high-priority programs and new product introductions.
    • Influence suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive adherence to committed delivery schedules, logistics requirements, and packaging standards.

    Freight Execution

    • Oversee freight carrier performance, rate management, and risk mitigation strategies across domestic and international shipments.
    • Lead implementation of enhanced visibility, tracking, and compliance tools for both general and cold freight shipments.
    • Manage and support cold chain transport activities as part of a broader logistics strategy—ensuring compliance for temperature-sensitive aerospace materials.
    • Partner with 3PLs and freight forwarders to optimize routing, documentation, and cost efficiency while ensuring delivery performance.

    Supplier Logistics & Commodity Support

    • Collaborate with commodity managers and procurement teams to ensure supplier logistics performance aligns with program needs.
    • Drive continuous improvement in supplier delivery and logistics readiness through data analytics and root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
    • Help define and refine supplier packaging, labeling, routing instructions, and freight terms as part of supplier onboarding and development.
    • Support the development of standardized supplier logistics agreements and freight responsibility matrices.

    Warehousing & Material Flow Support

    • Partner with site operations and warehouse teams to streamline inbound and outbound material flow.
    • Provide project support for warehouse optimization, material handling improvements, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
    • Leverage ERP and WMS data to identify trends and support real-time decision-making around inventory movement and availability.

    Compliance & Process Improvement

    • Work with ITC to ensure logistics and supplier transportation practices comply with ITAR, EAR, AS9100, and trade regulations.
    • Support implementation of KPIs and dashboards that track supplier delivery performance, freight spend, and logistics cycle time.
    • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline freight and logistics processes and drive measurable performance gains.

    Qualifications

    Experience:

    • 7+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or supplier delivery roles in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing.
    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects with measurable impact—particularly in logistics or supplier execution.
    • Experience managing 3PLs, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to support global logistics strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence suppliers and internal teams without direct authority.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
    • Certifications such as PMP, CPSM, CPIM, or CSCP are strongly preferred.

    Skills & Competencies

    Operational & Technical:

    • Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems and logistics data.
    • Strong understanding of trade compliance, ITAR/EAR regulations, and international shipping practices.
    • Competency in data analysis tools to assess supplier performance and logistics cost drivers.

    Leadership & Influence

    • Highly collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead through influence.
    • Confident communicator capable of aligning diverse stakeholders toward common goals.
    • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-urgency environment with shifting priorities.

    Analytical & Continuous Improvement

    • Experience implementing logistics KPIs and using metrics to drive decisions.Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
    • Ability to troubleshoot supplier delivery issues and implement systemic solutions.

    Work Environment & Travel

    • Hybrid role with a mix of on-site presence in logistics and warehouse environments and office-based work.
    • Occasional domestic and international travel required to support supplier, program, or logistics partner engagements.
    • Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $125K-$135K.

    • High school diploma and/or related experience in the industry is a preferred.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of inspection experience or proficient in inspection procedures and standards as defined by AmSpec’s Training team
    • IFIA certification is preferred.
    • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
    • Basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Familiarity with basic computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs.
    • Required to have unrestricted use of a licensed and insured vehicle in good, safe operating condition that can be used on the job for both personal and sample transportation in all ambient weather conditions. Must possess a valid current driving license and meet the requirements of AmSpec's Safe Driving Policy.
    • Must be ready to accept job assignments at any time, 24 x 7, including scheduled days off. Overtime must be worked as required to meet the needs of the branch office. Must be willing to work shifts if required by location.
    • Must be able to work in refineries, terminals, and on-board marine vessels as necessary.
    • Must respond to communications from the office and be available at all times.
    • Attendance at monthly safety meetings is required.
    • TWIC Card may be required to access terminals, refineries, rail yards, platforms, launch areas, and other third party host sites.

    Working Conditions

    The employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. AmSpec provides product information, training and personal protective equipment to protect employees from exposure to potentially harmful levels of those materials. The employee will be required to work outdoors in all levels of adverse weather conditions. Work may be required to be performed in refineries, tank farms, terminals and on board barges, ships, railcars and tank trucks. The noise level in the work environment may be high at times. Local and on occasion long distance travel may be required.

    Physical Requirements

    • Safety Sensitive position that requires pre-employment, random and annual drug and alcohol testing (including marijuana testing).
    • Comply with the requirements of AmSpec D&A Policy. Pass an annual Pulmonary Fitness Test.
    • Pass a physical examination by a physician designated by AmSpec, both before employment and at any time during employment upon request of AmSpec Services to confirm the Surveyor’s ability to perform the essential job functions of the position.
    • Qualify annually for a Respirator Fit Test.
    • Qualify annually, based on the results of an OSHA- designated blood test, for work in areas containing certain levels of Hydrocarbon Vapors.
    • Be able to safely perform inspection work while wearing required safety equipment, regardless of ambient weather conditions.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and to smell.
    • Ability to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms frequently.
    • Ability to climb storage tank ladders and stairs, typically up to 100 feet high while carrying 45 lb. of samples and/or inspection- related gear or equipment. Ability to climb vessel gangways, ladders, Jacob’s ladders, and stairs.
    • Ability to work in the presence of odors, typical of petroleum or petrochemicals, without allergic reactions or nausea when such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
    • Ability to work in confined spaces (as defined by OSHA), wearing appropriate respiratory and skin protection equipment.
