Responsibilities as a Distribution Engineering Manager include the ability to: • Apply NESC and utility standards, guidelines, specifications, and procedures properly • Design distribution facilities utilizing NESC and client standards including overhead and underground distribution facilities (including but not limited to distribution equipment installation, feeder/cable replacement, line extension, voltage optimization, distribution automation, and fiber optic installation) • Perform conventional and complex engineering calculations for facility studies, voltage drop, equipment sizing, pole loading, and cable pulling • Create engineering drawings and a bill of materials for utility infrastructure projects • Develop and prepare design sketches and cost estimates • Develop internal engineering processes and procedures for effective and efficient workflow, ensuring quality and safety at the forefront of everything • Experience in developing and monitoring KPIs and metrics for the Distribution Team • Research and compile project related data and present it to the management team • Identify & Lead Strategic Growth & Business Development goals • Ensure quality assurance standards are met at each stage of the project • Prepare and develop overhead and underground distribution work packages including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design • Compile and disseminate project communications regarding vegetation management, 3rd party attachments, right-of-way, and outage planning • Initiate client presentations with reports and visualizations to demonstrate technical results and project status • Build, manage and maintain client relationships • Build, manage and maintain project teams • Prepare and review project proposals • Train and mentor, your project team members • Perform quality review of distribution design packages (QA/QC) • Support, interview, and hire new members of our familia • Comprehensive understanding of the full project life cycle
Qualifications for this position must consist of: • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience (A master’s degree in engineering can be substituted for one year of experience) • 5+ years of leadership experience and executional expertise • Relevant experience includes either working directly with an electric utility consulting company, performing design engineering • Knowledge of electrical distribution power flow • Proficiency in distribution design software and GIS to aid in design • Knowledge of easements, right of way, and permits for distribution projects • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills • Attention to detail, facilitation of team building, collaboration, and organization • Ability to adapt and modify standard techniques, procedures, and criteria • This is not a fully remote position, as we need you to be able to meet the team in person and walk local job sites • A valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
It would be great if you possess: • EIT (Engineer in Training) • Completion of FE exam • Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), construction standards • Working knowledge of Pole Foreman, AutoCAD, BQE Core
