JOB TITLE: OPERATIONS SPECIALIST
LOCATION: CHICAGO, IL
DURATION: 7 MONTHS (This role requires five days out of the week, Monday through Saturday; 40-hour shift with the ability of overtime when applicable. )
DESCRIPTION:
Emergency Response & Short Cycle Non-Emergency The Operations Specialist is responsible for assigning of non-emergency work orders to field technicians at Peoples Gas. These include, but are not limited to, turn-on's, meter changes, inside safety inspections, demolition cut-offs, and other customer-related work orders. This position is responsible for routing work on a daily basis, watching the board to move work when appropriate in order to ensure we meet the allotted time frames as well as providing support throughout. This position requires multiple computer systems and applications and will communicate with field technicians and supervisors via phone, email, and skype. This role requires five days out of the week, Monday through Saturday; 40-hour shift with the ability of overtime when applicable. This position requires excellent customer service, effective communication, successfully managing workloads, a strong work ethic, and the ability to multitask. Emergency The Dispatcher is responsible for the assignment of emergency gas service orders to field technicians at both Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas Companies. These include gas leaks, carbon monoxide calls, explosions, fires, and no gas complaints. This position is responsible for providing critical gas facility information as well as customer information to the Service and Distribution Department field technicians at both PGL and NSG. The Dispatcher will conduct well-being checks on-field employees and request assistance from a private security firm as well as Police and Fire Department to ensure the safety of our employees and customers. The Dispatcher uses multiple computer systems and communicates with field technicians via radio console and telephone. The position works a rotating shift schedule which includes days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays. The Dispatcher must work with minimal supervision and be able to multi-task during periods of high call volume. Overtime is mandatory based on departmental needs. REQUIREMENTS 3+ years of Operations experience in the utility industry, emergency management, operational compliance or contact center environment 3+ years experience working with Microsoft Applications 3+ years Business related experience with customer interaction
