osition Overview:
We are looking for an experienced, full-time Special Education Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year to provide academic, emotional, and physical support for K-8 students who require additional assistance to succeed in our core academic program. In this role, you will work closely with the school team to support students with low-incidence learning and emotional disabilities in alignment with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Through targeted interventions, you’ll help students reach their full potential while fostering socially appropriate behavior and academic progress.

- Proactive approach with creativity and clear, effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in academic subjects and behavioral intervention strategies.
- 1-5 years of teaching experience preferred.
- Valid LBS1 Teacher Certification.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Planning: Develop and implement curricula and activities aligned with academic standards.
- IEP Development & Management: Set realistic, comparable goals for IEPs, and draft IEPs in preparation for meetings.
- Paraprofessional Support: Guide and support paraprofessionals working with students in special education settings.
- Student Assessment: Design and use both formal and informal assessments to track student progress.
- Collaboration: Partner with the school team to address students’ academic and social needs, fostering student well-being.
- Data-Driven Environment: Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive, learner-centered classroom atmosphere.
- RTI Coordination: Work with the RTI team to recommend accommodations or interventions for students in the RTI process.
- Policy Adherence: Uphold school policies, core values, and behavioral expectations to maintain a positive school culture.
- Student Achievement: Set and work toward ambitious academic and social-emotional benchmarks for all students.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a disciplined, orderly, and challenging learning environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Reflect on teaching practices and actively pursue improvement strategies.
- Communication: Engage effectively with students, families, and team members to ensure consistent support and collaboration.
- Professional Development: Participate in a mandatory three-week summer training (starting August 1).
