GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION At Play Yard, our Coaches are responsible for providing guidance and counseling on matters related to the dogs in our facility. They will advise you on our Free Greet & Treats (temperament evaluations) and create our daily playgroup lists based on all the dogs present in the facility and how they interact with one another. Play Yard Coaches have multiple responsibilities, which include creating incident reports, taking daily photos or videos for client report cards, and documenting any essential information about the dogs. They should know how to provide appropriate mental stimulation and exercise to the dogs and actively participate while in the yard. The Play Yard Coaches are also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall safety of the play yard space. They are responsible for cleaning up messes as soon as they occur and providing constant supervision in the yard. They are responsible for ensuring that all dogs are safe and secure, and they are the eyes, ears, and voice to ensure that the dogs are always well taken care of.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
It's important to be able to lead a pack of dogs and keep them active and engaged in the yard throughout the day.
Comfortable with heavy and strenuous cleaning and understand its’ importance. This can include cleaning suites, play yards, turf, lifting heavy items, dishes, laundry, and other applicable tasks.
The candidate must be comfortable with dogs of ALL sizes. Dogs can be noisy, messy, and difficult to handle at times, so the candidate must be able to provide appropriate corrections to the dogs without force. The candidate must also be able to stand, walk, move, and engage with the dogs for the entire shift.
Perform all dog-to-dog Greet & Treats and Re-Evaluations. Will be responsible for taking notes & giving management feedback on either approving or denying a dog’s evaluation. Reports accurately the status of why a dog did or did not pass.
Have an energetic, outgoing, upbeat personality and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
Must be fluent in our Policies & Procedures – we do things our way.
A basic understanding of Pet Emergency Response tactics and the ability to use them quickly and efficiently in an emergency.
Providing excellent customer service when needed.
The ability to learn and adapt quickly and be willing to take on other positions or duties as needed by the business.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must not be allergic to dogs.
Able to hear, learn, and understand auditory behaviors from dogs.
Able to visually observe, interpret, and react appropriately to dog body language.
Able to work in a loud environment. (earplugs provided)
Able to work and handle dogs with various energy levels, behaviors, and ages.
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy level environment.
Able to remain calm, under control, and organized.
When necessary, actively participate in staff training exercises, learn hands-on, ask questions when something is unclear, and approach everything with a “can-do”, positive attitude.
Able to utilize our required technology, such as e-learning software, apps, and other applicable platforms.
You will be expected to maintain and adhere to all our policies, procedures, and attendance policy during a 90-day probationary period. If you cannot comply, you will be terminated without notice.
Reliable transportation despite weather conditions. (we are open 365 days a year)
Weekend AND Holiday availability. Availability is REQUIRED.
Within 30 days: non-slip shoes are required.
Within 90 days: Animal CPR/First Aid Certification is required to be completed. KEY COMPETENCIES

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to lift and carry dog food and supplies. (estimated 50+lbs)
Able to walk and/or stand for the entire designated shift.
Able to walk and handle dogs ranging in size/weight. (10lbs – 150+lbs)
