Duties/Responsibilities: · Feeds and waters animals according to feeding instructions and established schedules. · Ensuring that all sleep, play, and training areas are clean and sanitary. · Observes animals to identify signs of injury, illness, or disease. · Maintains records of information such as weight, physical condition, diet, feeding schedule, and medications given. · Communicating behavioral concerns to dog owners as required. · Assisting in providing food and medication to dogs. · Monitoring dogs during assigned play and socialization times to prevent accidents or injuries. · Ensures that animals receive necessary exercise. · Unloads and stores feed and supplies. · Answers general questions from patrons about the animals such as behavior or habitat. · Takes phone calls and schedules appointments. · Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities: · Ability to work with animals and to remain calm in strenuous circumstances. · The ability to handle different breeds and sizes of dogs. · Excellent problem-solving skills. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to follow instructions. · Excellent time management skills. · Ability to meet customers’ needs and provide necessary assistance.
Education and Experience: · Experience with animals required. · Proven experience working as a dog handler. · High school diploma or GED.
