The Door Host is required to help keep order, and make sure everyone is safe and has a good time. The Door Hosts provide the initial line of support to the entire venue, and is the greeter of all guests who enter the venue and leave the venue. Our Door Hosts must be energetic, kind and approachable, while interacting with passerby's to welcome and urge them into the venues.
Responsibilities are to monitor people by checking I.D.s, check backpacks/purses for unapproved items, monitor levels of intoxication of potential/current patrons, make sure patrons are not acting aggressively or destructively, and to protect staff, property and equipment from damage. Proper cash-handling techniques for cover charge for weekends and/or special events may be required.
Requirements
Greet all patrons, staff, neighbors, etc. Make everyone feel welcome; create and maintain a safe and healthy atmosphere; remove unwelcome guests who cause a disturbance
Check I.D.s and intoxication levels to determine guest entry
Ensure the front of the venue and all exits are cleaned and free of debris, obstacles and people to provide both cleanliness and safety (In colder months, remove snow and salt pathways to provide safety)
Walk patrons and/or staff to taxis, cars or homes as needed to ensure safety
Complete an incident report for any verbal or physical altercations, entry or attempted entry of terminated staff or unwelcome guests, accidents/injuries, or other
Must be trusted by their employer not to allow underage or undesirable people into the bar/restaurant, or to let someone who is getting out of control stay on premises
Must be observant for trouble, be able to see false identification, and generally be aware of surroundings; must be able to determine what to do quickly before a situation gets out of control
If a physical altercation happens, security/door staff need to be able to break up fights and physically eject people from the building or restrain them until the police can arrive
Protect establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies (BASSET & Food Handler Certifications; any additional certifications as required)
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to interact with guests/patrons and provide excellent customer service
Strong people skills
Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs
Ability to stand/walk for entire shift
Problem-solving and conflict management skills
Knowledge/passion for Chicago nightlife a plus
Other Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have night/weekend/late-night availability
