    Job Summary: The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown Portland is seeking a talented and dedicated Line Chef to join our culinary team. The Line Chef will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes in a timely manner, following the kitchen's recipes and specifications. This role requires a passion for cooking, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Food Preparation: * Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes and standards. * Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented in a consistent and appealing manner. * Follow portion control guidelines and minimize waste.
    2. Station Management: * Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies before service begins. * Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift. * Ensure all food items are stored properly and in compliance with food safety standards.
    3. Quality Control: * Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure that dishes meet the hotel's standards. * Assist with the daily preparation and production of menu items. * Perform regular quality checks to ensure freshness and proper seasoning.
    4. Collaboration: * Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service. * Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and other team members. * Assist with the training of new kitchen staff as needed.
    5. Safety and Sanitation: * Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe and clean working environment. * Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures. * Ensure that kitchen equipment is maintained and report any malfunctions to the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
    6. Additional Duties: * Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions. * Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed. * Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience as a Line Chef, Cook, or similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
    • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
    • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • A positive attitude and a commitment to providing high-quality food and service.
    • Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
