Konik is partnering with a local metal fabrication company to add a Mechanical Drafter to their team. The Mechanical Drafter will use industry software to create and maintain a library of products and materials which, when optimized, generate e-files of cut bills for the manufacturing team using Solidworks, CAD, Revit software.
Mechanical Drafter Responsibilities:
- Conduct coordination meetings with the production team when necessary to ensure smooth project hand-offs.
- Prioritize and manage customer-specific projects.
- Gather and organize data to complete drawings, coordinating directly with customers.
- Develop shop drawings from architectural plans, design sketches, or conceptual ideas.
- Plan and layout technical drawings according to industry standards.
- Oversee corrections and revisions to shop drawings, adjusting as needed.
- Maintain a comprehensive drawing log and list.
- Provide technical input to support the quoting process.
- Assist with procurement by preparing material lists and assessing vendor quotations.
- Review technical aspects and suggest improvements to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Demonstrate initiative in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Mechanical Drafter Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the custom metal fabrication industry; an AAS degree in drafting or a closely related field is highly preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, as well as interior design and architectural/structural drawings. Familiarity with commercial building construction is an asset.
- Proven capability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Advanced technical drafting skills.
- Competence in basic math and geometry, with the ability to calculate various figures like interest, proportions, percentages, areas, circumferences, and volumes.
- Analytical skills to identify problems, gather information, and draw accurate conclusions, as well as the ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, design software, manufacturing software, and internet tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to fast-paced environments, tight deadlines, and shifting priorities.
