Overview of the Role
The Driver is responsible for the safe, courteous transport of senior participants to and from recreational activities, sites, and special events. He/she will be responsible for daily safety inspection checks and overall vehicle maintenance, identifying a vehicle maintenance service center or repair shop for quick servicing and repairs, daily upkeep/cleanliness of the vehicle assigned, maintaining a daily manifest of vehicle use, responsible for the delivery and pick up of program’s documents and reports as needed. The Driver will also provide outreach to the community-building partnership to enhance the role of Seabury Resources for Aging. The Driver works with a significant degree of independence. Work results are periodically reviewed to ensure the achievement of goals. Bi-weekly or monthly meetings are required, and monthly reports are as needed.
Department
The Driver will work closely with the entire organization to provide transportation services for small groups, recreational trips for the socialization hub, and develop partnerships with the community to provide transportation throughout the D.C. metropolitan area.
Responsibilities
● Responsible for daily safety inspection checks.
● Responsible for the daily upkeep/cleanliness of the vehicle, including COVID-19 precautions.
● Responsible for the safe, courteous transport of participants to and from their destination.
● Maintain a daily manifest of vehicle use.
● Keep up with vehicle maintenance as assigned by supervision.
● Responsible for delivering and picking up program documents and reports for the different departments.
● Maintain and manage a positive work environment by interacting professionally and politely with customers, co-workers, and management.
● Use daily logs to check assigned vehicles for abnormalities and report to supervisors.
● Must be sensitive to and understand the needs of the client population and able to relate effectively to a wide range of persons and groups.
● Must have experience in program management and supervision.
● Maintain the policies and procedures provided by the District of Columbia regarding COVID-19 regulations.
● Duties include transporting clients safely, maintaining accurate records, and performing pre and post-trip vehicle inspections.
● Loading and unloading of passengers on/off vehicles utilizing a four-point securement of wheelchairs and scooters
● Responsible for transporting passengers that have disabilities.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
● Education: High School Diploma. Certification: CDL is a plus.
● Current Driver’s License. ● Driver must be 25 years of age or older
● No tickets or points on Driver’s License within the last 3 years.
● Must have an accident and traffic violation-free record.
● Must be familiar with traveling in and around the Washington, DC, metropolitan area.
● Must have large vehicle driving experience of at least 3 years (12 passenger vans)
● Must be sensitive to and understand the population's needs and be able to relate effectively.
● Preferred Bilingual
● Demonstrate capacity to use skills and knowledge to perform the job.
