    Job Description

    The Dual Enrollment Support Specialist is a unique position supporting WCPA’s Access for All programming. DESS staff are the academic and behavioral support provided to our students enrolled in college courses on campus. DESS will connect with professors or instructors to plan proactive instructional tasks or interventions to close gaps, so all students feel successful in college courses. Additionally, this position closely monitors student attendance, behavior, and academic learning to communicate with WCPA and family members to provide total support for our student body.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Shared Vision: Supports a vision of excellence for all students, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes
    • Culture of Excellence : Fosters a safe, culturally responsive, and nurturing community where students love learning and are excited to attend school daily
    • Teaching and Learning: Frequently monitors students' engagement through phone calls and home connections with guidance from and collaboration with the HS leadership team, school teachers, and counselors. Meets with teachers regularly to discuss student progress and plan the next steps for engagement practices to ensure connectedness to the school learning community. Contacts parents to support student learning.
    • Data & Assessment: Regularly engages in individual student case management, by proactively making data-driven decisions.
    • Innovation: Develops and executes innovative teaching and learning strategies to ensure a world-class and well-rounded education.
    • Professional Growth : Commits to continuous growth, actively engages in professional development opportunities, and contributes to our professional learning community.
    • Community Outreach: Demonstrates commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree, required
    • Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, preferred
    • Experience supporting adults or students, preferred
    • Proficiency in technology
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Skills and Traits:

    • Deepens knowledge of content and skills in both secondary school (grades 7-12) and college coursework
    • Participates in the development of pre-teaching tasks and interventions that support independent mastery of secondary school and college coursework
    • Creates individualized learning plans and support plans for students in your supported class
    • Familiar with a growth mindset
    • Creates, uses, and communicates progress using academic and behavior trackers
    • Maintains a safe, organized classroom that supports students’ independent learning, collaboration, and choice.
    • Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
    • Interested in fostering diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice to promote a healthy learning environment
    • Able to look at data and adjust support student growth
    • Monitors and maintains a positive classroom environment that supports the school-wide behavior expectations in which students are engaged and incorporates mutual respect while providing cooperative learning opportunities.
    • Uses available technology/instructional media to enhance the students’ learning experiences.
    • Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members by communicating tactfully, courteously, and confidentially.
    • Appropriately communicates and interacts with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work.
    • Attends and participates in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school-related activities and committees.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth and works with administrators to formulate and complete professional development plans.
    • Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible.

    Pay: $25.00/Hour
