    Job Description

    1.0     POSITION SUMMARY

     

    Position is responsible for recruiting and onboarding contracts directly for Dunavant Sea Lane Express, LLC with back up recruiting and onboarding responsibility for Dunavant Trans Gulf Transportation, LLC 

     

    2.0     REPORTING

     

    Reports to SVP, Dunavant Sea Lane Express, LLC works 8AM -5PM

    Current FLSA Status:   Exempt

    HR FLSA Status Recommendation:   Exempt

    SALARY/WAGES WILL BE COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE.

     

    3.0     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, JOB DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Responsible for all aspects of the acquisition and on-boarding process for owner-operators.

    • Initiates driver hiring process:

    • Retrieves all applications that are submitted through TenStreet (driver recruiting software).

    • Reviews a “new, reapply” status report obtained from TenStreet every morning.

    • Contacts each individual form the pool of applicants, covers any needed information, and answers questions.

    • Manages the driver hiring process:

    • Reviews all applications submitted through Dunavant site for individuals meeting all requirements.

    • Changes applicant status for all applicants meeting the minimum requirements to one of two: “Pending” or “Safety Review.”  “Pending” status requires additional information from applicant, “Safety Review” proceeds to the next step.

    • Applicants in “Safety Review” may be researched for verification of employment.

    • Orders the 4 reports for applicants in “Safety Review.” CDLIS (verifies current state and license number of driver), criminal background check, PSP (reviews driver history), MVR (used to determine violation history).  Results are received within 5-15 days.

    • Changes applicant status to “proceed to hire” upon satisfactory results of ordered reports.  All applications in “proceed to hire” status MUST have a VOR search.

    • Encourages terminal managers to contact new hires for informal interview.

    • Terminal managers are notified of “proceed to hire” status.  Terminal managers should then change status to “hire.”  Terminal managers are in charge of the individuals after “proceed to hire” status.

    • “Proceed to Hire” individuals should pass a drug and physical test, watch the required safety videos online, and pass a driving test.

    • Administers actual driving test to Houston drivers seeking employment.

    • Back up for this position for DTGT Recruiting Manager/ Administrator.

    • Acts as back up for the DTGT Recruiting Manager/Administrator.

    • Performs all other duties or projects as assigned.

     

     

         4.0     EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

     

    Associate’s degree (AA) from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

     

        5.0      MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Computer skills – Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to write simple correspondence and to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
    • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
    • Ability to comprehend 24-hour clock system.
    • Ability to collate time/distance scheduling for 24/7 operation.  
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

     

     

       6.0     WORK CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Sedentary physical activity requiring reaching, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, and hearing.
    • Visual requirement is for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
    • 90% or more time is spent looking directly at a computer.
    • Employee is frequently required to stand, walk (or otherwise be mobile).
    • Employee is frequently required to lift and carry a minimum of 10 pounds.
    • Ability to deal with stressful situations as they arise.

     

    Duties are primarily performed in an office environment. Minimal physical effort is required. Lifting and carrying requirements of up to 15 pounds.  Occasional or frequent ability to move boxes from one location to another.
