Job Description: We are seeking a qualified and motivated Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Fitter to join our team at Columbia Orthopaedic Group. The DME Fitter will be responsible for fitting, fabricating, and adjusting orthotic devices to meet the specific needs of our patients, ensuring compliance with physician prescriptions and promoting optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patient needs by reviewing prescriptions, performing assessments, and collaborating with healthcare providers.
- Fit, fabricate, adjust, and repair a variety of orthotic devices, ensuring optimal comfort and function.
- Educate patients and caregivers on the proper use, care, and maintenance of orthotic devices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of fittings, adjustments, and patient interactions.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, company policies, and procedures related to DME fitting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any patient issues regarding orthotic devices.
- Stay current on new products, technologies, and best practices in the field of orthotics and DME fitting.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and interns as needed.
- Participate in continuous education and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in orthotics fitting (e.g., Certified Orthotic Fitter) is preferred.
- Proven experience as a DME Fitter, with a focus on orthotics.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and orthotic principles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and their families.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in computer software and documentation systems related to patient care.
