    E-Sports Lab Manager- is responsible for planning, managing, coordinating, operating, and evaluating the Esports program at Grayson College in collaboration with the Director of Student Life and Development. Reporting to the Director of Student Life and Development, this position is expected to adhere to and maintain compliance of the rules and regulations of the NJCAA-E. In addition, the Head Esports Coach will collaborate with the Academic Advisors and the Director of Student Life and Development to ensure student athletes adhere to the academic plan and standards set by the college and NJCAA-E. This position provides supervision and coaching for the Esports program and all game offerings it encompasses. Recruits student-athletes, directs and manages practices, coordinates competitions and game day operations, organizes potential travel schedules, and supervises team conduct during competition, travel, tournaments, practices, and other events where the Esports team is represented. Fosters a positive team atmosphere and supports student athletes’ academic progress, retention, and graduation, through mentoring activities and referral to appropriate support services.

    The salary range for this position is $14.99 to $22.49 hourly.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    40% Oversee daily operations of the Esports Lab, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and well-maintained environment for students. Enforce lab policies and monitor equipment use to prevent misuse or damage.

    20% Assist in developing and implementing esports league schedules, tournaments, and casual gaming events. Support student engagement by promoting activities and fostering a competitive yet welcoming atmosphere.

    15% Maintain esports equipment, gaming PCs, and software to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot basic technical issues and coordinate repairs or updates as needed.

    10% Maintain clear and open communication with students, staff, and the Director of Student Life and Development. Assist with scheduling, program documentation, and data tracking for participation and engagement.

    10% Promote esports events and activities, encourage student participation, and serve as a resource for students interested in esports opportunities at the college.

    5% Support special events, departmental initiatives, and other tasks as assigned by the Director. Adjust work schedules to accommodate esports-related activities and college events.

    Ensures accurate data entry and documentation to support esports operations, including equipment tracking, competition results, and participant engagement.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience: One to two years of experience in esports program administration, gaming event coordination, or related fields, preferably in a higher education setting.

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous E-Sports experience is preferred.

    Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates courtesy, professionalism, and diplomacy in daily interactions. Able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and external partners.

    Other Skills: General computer skills and basic knowledge of online gaming platforms and tournaments. Strong customer service skills, dependability is essential, maintain confidentiality, multi-task, detail oriented, telephone demeanor, excellent communication skills, professional & friendly attitude. Knowledge of Google Suite (Docs/Sheets), Atrium, LeagueOS is preferred.

    Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items (up to 20 lbs occasionally), driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to do the work.

    Work Environment: Primarily based in the Esports Lab, with occasional work in other campus facilities and participation in Student Life and Development events. May involve evening and weekend hours for gaming events, tournaments, and student engagement activities.

    This position requires three references. This position is considered a security sensitive position and will require a criminal background check.
