    Position Summary:

    The EEG Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized electroencephalographic (EEG) studies under the direction of a physician. The role includes preparing patients, operating EEG equipment, ensuring accurate data collection, and assisting in the interpretation of results. The position requires availability for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate emergency and after-hours procedures.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Electroencephalographic Testing:

    Prepare and position patients for EEG studies, ensuring comfort and compliance.

    Attach electrodes and operate EEG recording equipment to obtain high-quality tracings.

    Perform routine EEGs, long-term monitoring, and specialized tests as directed.

    Respond to requests for STAT and emergency EEG studies during on-call shifts.

    Patient Care:

    Educate patients and families about the procedure to alleviate anxiety.

    Monitor patient safety throughout the testing process.

    Recognize and respond to adverse patient reactions promptly.

    Data Management:

    Document procedures, observations, and patient responses accurately in medical records.

    Review and mark data for physician interpretation.

    Ensure data confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

    Equipment Maintenance:

    Maintain and calibrate EEG equipment regularly.

    Troubleshoot equipment issues and report malfunctions.

    On-Call Duties:

    Be available to respond to on-call emergencies promptly within the required response time.

    Communicate effectively with staff to coordinate urgent procedures.

    Collaboration and Compliance:

    Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

    Adhere to departmental protocols, policies, and accreditation standards.
