  • Responsibilities

    We are looking for an onsite, project-based HSE Supervisor/ Coordinator to oversee the planned construction of a new office/warehouse building at our client’s Closure Mine Site. The role will involve working closely with and supporting the construction manager, the site team, the general contractor, and numerous building trade subcontractors. This role is on a dayshift/weekdays/schedule (8-10 hour days).

     

    Reporting to the Site Superintendent, you will be responsible for:

     

    • Providing leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) to ensure the safety of employees and contractors, safeguard the environment, and drive continuous improvement

    • Supervising resources in line with the project execution plan, ensuring alignment with values and achievement of objectives, and providing appropriate feedback and coaching.

    • Monitoring, driving, and reporting on key HSE project performance indicators to meet business objectives.

    • Fulfill Closure HSES Standard requirements as needed.

    • Oversight of the HSES requirements of Contractors

    • Ensure proper Pre-Task Hazard Assessments are performed

    • Ensure Work Permitting is implemented and reviewed

    • Lead the daily Pre-Start Meetings for the construction work area.

    • Implement Quality Assurance, Verification of Compliance and Leadership in the Field through daily inspections

    • Coordination of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities

    • Coordinate day-to-day work scope between other contractor teams and active operations

    • Manage project HSE daily reports and project documentation

    • Support other team members with their roles and responsibilities

    • Ensure successful and safe execution of construction project through detailed planning and execution of scopes of work in compliance with the following:

    O HSE standards and programs

    o Contractor Management standards

    o Permitting processes

     

    • Support team in the development and execution of the following:

    O HSE and Contractor Management documentation

    o Daily HSE Project Execution documents and inspections

    • Strong, demonstrated commitment to safety

    • Experience in an HSE role

    • Experience in operational areas or roles

    • Experience in safety-sensitive roles

    • Excellent communication skills and to effectively collaborate with others


    To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • 7+ years’ experience in a Construction capacity

    • 2+ years’ of supervisor experience

    • Construction experience

    • Problem-solving skills

    • An uncompromised commitment to working safely and creating a zero-harm working environment.

    • Computer proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word processing, Spreadsheet management, E-mail management).

     

    It will also be beneficial if you have:

    • Experience in Critical Risk Management

    • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills – incident management

    • Quality assurance, pre-commissioning, and commissioning experience

    • Schedule development and management experience
