The Galveston County Health District is seeking EMT-Basic's to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of residents in Galveston County.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing emergency and non-emergency medical care and transportation for patients from the scene of an accident or other locations to an emergency or non-emergency treatment facilities. You will operate within the scope of your license and adhere to established protocols to ensure the best care for our community.

**What You'll Do:**
* ****Provide immediate emergency care and non-emergency transport for patients, following established medical protocols and procedures.
* Analyze patient situations, make triage decisions, and call for additional resources as needed.
* Safely operate the ambulance while adhering to state laws, GCHD policies, and safety protocols.
* Maintain accurate, detailed patient records and report on patient conditions while in transit.
* Work closely with a team of medical professionals to ensure the best care and treatment for patients.
* Keep the ambulance, medical supplies, and equipment in a state of operational readiness, ensuring functionality and cleanliness.
**What We're Looking For:**
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Certification as an EMT-Basic from the Texas Department of State Health Services required
* Previous experience as an EMT-Basic is helpful but not required
* Protocol Certification by the EMS Medical Director within 30 days of employment
* CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (current)
* Knowledge of medical care and rescue techniques at the EMT-Basic level
* Ability to operate medical equipment and emergency vehicles under stress
* Knowledge of local, state, and federal EMS rules, as well as ambulance operation protocols
* Customer Service Oriented with excellent verbal & written communication skills
* Strong computer skills (MS Office proficiency) ~~~~
* Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed ~~~~
* Compliance with GCHD Immunizations policy & ICS training requirements ~~~~
* Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record ~~~~
* Must pass criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening ~~~~
