    Job Description

    THE POSITION:

    The Safety Manager is responsible for analyzing, identifying, and measuring workplace hazards or stresses that can cause sickness, impaired health, or significant discomfort in employees through chemical, physical, ergonomic, or biological exposures. They are responsible for making sure that employees follow health and safety laws and creating policies for a safer work environment. The manager will develop safety programs from scratch. You will also be responsible for the security of the facilities managing the process conducted by security vendor.

    They must take measures to identify potential workplace hazards and improve existing conditions. The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring that quality training and best safety practices are in place for a safe and effective workplace.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop staff members assigned to the area
    • Ensure all operation associates perform their duties and responsibilities in accordance with applicable standard operation procedures (SOPs)
    • Complete all special projects assigned by the Operations Manager or their designated representative
    • Demonstrate effective problem investigation and resolution skills
    • Monitor, track and discipline staff employees as necessary.
    • Facilitate a safe operational environment for all employees by strictly complying with and enforcing all company safety requirements.
    • All other duties as assigned

    The Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. The main duties and responsibilities for this position include:

    • Monitor the removal of biological, physical or chemical hazards from a workplace
    • Provide safety monthly training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures
    • Advise the company’s administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations
    • Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations
    • Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines
    • Analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment
    • Developing safety programs.

    EXPECTIONS OF THE JOB:

    • Travel <5% Locally
    • Hours Availability between the hours of 7am – 7pm

    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Excellent leadership skills: Communicate clear objectives, provide feedback, and suggest improvement for individual performance, Strong verbal and written communication skills across multiple departments and tailored to multiple levels of the organization.
    • Exceptional organizational, management, planning, and executing and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to prepare comprehensive written reports and correspondences, represent ideas clearly and concisely, and make presentations
    • The ability to make effective decisions under pressure especially in terms of quick escalation decisions
    • Effective reasoning and problem-solving skills
    • Developing safety programs from scratch
    • At least 3 years leadership experience within a 3PL environment
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Organizational Training and Development or related field.
    • Communication : Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
    • Experience and/or Training: Minimum of 2 years experience in training and development management.
    • Technology/Equipment: MS Windows: Excel, Outlook, Safety monitoring software

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    The physical and mental requirements along with the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.

    Warehouse: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Environmental demands include walking or standing at a minimum of 80% of the shift, lifting up to 50 pounds and performing tasking in a busy environment. Bending, squatting, pivoting and stooping may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
