    Do you love working with young children and have a basic understanding of music? Are you the kind of person who can match a child’s energy, banter with them in a family-friendly way, and create an environment that inspires their musical journey? The Irvine School of Music is excited to offer an opportunity to teach Music Fun Time, an internationally acclaimed early childhood music curriculum designed for children aged 18 months to 7 years.

    Position Details:

    Pay: $26 - $40/hr to start depending on class enrollment, with raises based on student retention.

    Hours: Flexible part-time hours:

    MON-FRI: 2-9 PM

    SAT/SUN: 9 AM - 5 PM

    Immediate Openings: We are hiring teachers for Music Fun Time group and individual classes.

    Your Responsibilities:

    Teach Music FunTime classes following the provided curriculum

    Assign and followup with homework as designated by curriculum

    Prepare and conduct student recitals with other Music Fun Time teachers

    Convert trial students with your enthusiasm for and demonstration of the trial curriculum

    Engage and retain students with energy and enthusiasm, matching their levels of excitement while maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere

    Communicate with parents about student progress

    Engage students through playful banter, age-appropriate instructions, and positive reinforcement

    Create a welcoming, encouraging classroom environment that fosters curiosity and creativity

    Requirements:

    Basic music skills, including the ability to read notes, rhythms, and basic understanding of key signatures.

    Dynamic and energetic personality

    Enthusiasm for classroom management

    Enthusiasm for working with children aged 18 months to 7 years.

    Strong age-appropriate communication skills, with the ability to engage with students at their level

    Ability to pass a federal background check.

    Minimum 12-month commitment

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Can teach additional instrument, preferably piano at any level, or voice

    Experience teaching or working with young children such as babysitting

    Ability to sing or play an instrument at a beginner level to inspire students

    Creativity and adaptability in managing group classes

    Music FunTime is an internationally acclaimed curriculum rooted in the idea that music and math are intertwined. This program introduces young children to basic music theory concepts like note and rhythm reading, key signatures, and simple instrument play in a fun, hands-on way. Using games, crafts, and visuals, the curriculum helps children develop cognitive, social, and motor skills.
