The Lead Teacher in an Early Education Program is responsible for designing and implementing an engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children. This role involves creating a positive learning environment, guiding students in their academic and social development, and working collaboratively with other staff members to achieve the program's educational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
Design and deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with early childhood education standards.
Plan and implement daily lessons, activities, and projects that foster children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
Classroom Management:
Create and maintain a positive, organized, and safe classroom environment that supports the needs of all students.
Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote a respectful and productive classroom atmosphere.
Establish and maintain clear rules and expectations for student behavior.
Student Assessment and Evaluation:
Observe and assess students’ progress and development, using formal and informal assessment tools.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students’ achievements and areas of growth.
Utilize assessment data to inform and adjust instructional practices.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work collaboratively with Teacher’s Assistants, other staff members, and parents to support students’ learning and development.
Participate in team meetings, professional development, and planning sessions.
Foster strong relationships with families, providing support and resources to enhance students’ learning experiences.
Health and Safety:
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students at all times.
Follow school policies and procedures related to child safety, emergency protocols, and health regulations.
Administer first aid as needed and manage any medical or emergency situations in accordance with school policies.
Professional Development:
Stay current with early childhood education research, best practices, and new teaching methodologies.
Engage in ongoing monthly staff meetings, professional developments, and training opportunities.
Reflect on personal teaching practices and seek feedback to improve effectiveness.
