Job summary:
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and functionality of the school's physical environment. This role ensures that the facilities are well-maintained, clean, and conducive to a safe and effective learning atmosphere in alignment with our Christian values. Demonstration of a heart of service and dedication to the mission of Christian education is essential for success in this position.

Required Professional Qualities
- A minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent.
- Experience in the maintenance field, preferably in a school setting.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain an environment that is pleasant, healthy, well-maintained, and supports classroom needs.
- Perform daily site walk-throughs to assess safety issues, perform routine maintenance, and update the Facilities Plan.
- Cooperate and collaborate with the senior leadership team to operate within the established budget.
- Work in partnership with the outsourced Janitorial Service to relay needs and general messages.
- Respond to equipment and/or building maintenance needs, requests, and emergencies. reported by faculty and staff, either by performing the work personally or contacting and scheduling a contractor when the work exceeds the scope of expertise or legally requires a licensed professional.
- Work with the staff of the First City Church and the Elementary Principal to resolve any needs or requests in the leased property.
- Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations in the classroom and school.
- Participate in required emergency safety drills in coordination with school leadership.
- Work through ongoing Maintenance Request List, documenting progress and completions.
- Be on standby for physical plant emergencies.
- Perform daily cleaning duties including but not limited to lunchroom, classrooms, emptying trash, window cleaning, and locker room restrooms.
- Respond to janitorial cleanups throughout the school day following health department regulations and procedures.
- Take deliveries (boxes, items, materials) from the Front Office to the appropriate location.
- Assemble furniture or other classroom furnishings as needed.
- Inspect and replace Light Bulbs / HVAC Air Filters / Ceiling tiles / Exit Sign Bulbs / Outdoor Spotlight Bulbs, etc.
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance for Air Conditioning Units/ Gutters & drains / Ice Machine, etc.
- Prepare facilities for extreme weather conditions, eg. Flooding, Windstorms, Freezing Weather, etc.
- Assist with setup and clean up for school events.
- Support school leadership in meeting regulatory requirements. (Safety and Health Preventative Checklist).
- Perform monthly Playground Safety Checklist.
- Inspect and repair/replace security equipment on campus.
