    POSITION SUMMARY The Editorial Specialist uses invention, imagination, originality, and talent to develop, write, and edit all print and digital materials for First Baptist Atlanta. The Editorial Specialist will write personal stories in a journalistic style as well as marketing copy in a persuasive style. This position will proofread all content, both original and content provided by other staff team members. The Editorial Specialist will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Must have a growing and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ
    2. Must align with the beliefs, values, and mission of First Baptist Atlanta
    3. Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field
    4. Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in professional copy writing position
    5. Strong writing/editing/proofreading skills and an excellent portfolio
    6. Must be proficient with programs in the Microsoft Office and Adobe suite
    7. Must possess prioritizing and multitasking skills

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Writes and edits materials for communications projects and ensures accuracy and completeness of the final product.
    2. Assures all content written by them, or provided by team members, is consistent with First Baptist Atlanta guidelines for readability, brand standards and grammatical correctness.
    3. Assists in researching and developing policy handbooks and manuals as needed
    4. Reviews and updates church website content for relevance
    5. Creates online and print cycles to keep content refreshed
    6. Defines publication standards and establishes goals and expectations
    7. Collaborates with team members to suggest stories and marketing strategies
    8. Writes scripts for promotional and testimonial videos
    9. Complies with media law and ethical guidelines
    10. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, and participating in ongoing training
