Position Overview:
As a Wireless RF Engineer at EPIC Scientific, you will support testing and evaluating commercial wireless technologies to help define the future of military communications systems. This role involves both lab-based and field tests to assess wireless communication solutions. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and vendors to drive innovation and enhance military communications systems.
Typical Tasks Include:
- Conducting lab and field-based testing of wireless technologies (Land Mobile Radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE/5G, MIMO, Beamforming, etc.).
- Utilizing various electronic test instruments such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power delivery analyzers, oscilloscopes, and channel emulators.
- Configuring and testing wireless networks using proprietary vendor tools.
- Performing throughput testing using tools like iPerf or MGEN.
- Monitoring and analyzing wireless technology metrics such as Signal to Noise Ratio, Packet Error Rate, receiver sensitivity, latency, and signal strength.
- Collaborating with wireless technology vendors to provide feedback on performance and integration.
- Presenting test results and reports to stakeholders in both written and oral formats.
- Working with remote engineering teams to integrate wireless solutions into military communications systems.
- Other duties as required to meet project goals.
Position Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Wireless Communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in wireless communications technology testing and evaluation.
- Strong understanding of wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE/5G, MIMO, Modulation Coding Schemes, Beamforming, Low Probability of Intercept/Detection.
- Experience with electronic test instruments (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.).
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking frameworks and communication over the data plane.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in wireless network configuration and testing.
- Experience with throughput testing tools such as iPerf or MGEN.
- Familiarity with wireless communication metrics (SNR, PER, receiver sensitivity, latency, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting skills for wireless systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for presenting test results.
- Ability to collaborate with vendors and engineering teams.
Desired Skills:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Wireless Communications, or related field.
- Experience with proprietary vendor tools for configuring wireless systems.
- Experience with advanced wireless technologies such as MIMO, beamforming, and 5G.
- Understanding of military communications systems and DoD standards.
