  • Responsibilities

    DUTIES:

    1\. Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with plant rules, quality standards and company policies.

    2\. Performs workplace examinations prior to working in any specific area throughout the shift, correcting deficiencies themselves or taking other appropriate action to ensure deficiencies are corrected by others or prevent other workers from being exposed to the hazard.

    3\. Inspects, repairs, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all electrical equipment, gauges, instruments, and environmental and process control equipment.

    4.Works from blueprints and sketches as necessary.

    5\. Responds to emergency call outs on an as needed basis.

    6\. Determines the best way to make repairs to minimize the interruption of AC & DC equipment.

    7\. Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continues operation will have no harmful effect.

    8\. Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles all electrical and instrument equipment.

    9\. Adjusts equipment for proper operating characteristics.

    10\. Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to determine material replacement needs, and assembly specifications and methods.

    11\. Makes sketches required when prints are not available.

    12\. Locates source of trouble in any type of electrical equipment or apparatus by tracing and testing circuits, cards, and inspects tools and material requirements.

    13\. Dismantles, inspects, repairs, replaces, or adjusts faulty parts, and wiring on electrical equipment, such as, motors, generators, air compressors, relays and controls, switches, circuit breakers, transformers, hydraulic, magnetic, and pneumatic equipment, panel boards, batteries, and starters.

    14\. Rewires, insulates and paints as needed.

    15\. Operates machine tools such as a drill press, pipe threading machine, power saw etc.

    16\. Erects scaffolds and performs rigging.

    17\. Works closely in support of the production department and works with other members of the maintenance department.

    18\. Performs preventive and predictive maintenance.

    19\. Effective execution of the overhaul outage plan.

    20\. From time to time directs other hourly employees and contractors.

    21\. Keeps work area clean and orderly.

    22\. Adheres to Procurement Department standards to secure repair parts, supplies and materials.

    23\. Trains other employees as needed.

    24\. Attends & participates in department and team meetings.

    25\. Be able to keep up and become proficient with changes in instrument and electrical technology.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Power distribution experience or understanding.
    • Programmable logic control and digital drive experience.
    • 4 years of electrical / instrumentation maintenance experience or an associates degree or equivalent in electrical maintenance.
    • Ability to read sketches and blueprints.
    • Able to communicate verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to learn new or existing tasks required of the position.
    • Perform all the essential job functions.
    • Aptitude for numerical reasoning.
    • Must have experience and proficiency in industrial electrical and instrument maintenance including application of electrical principles.
    • Must be able to become proficient in the application of electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic principles.
    • Must be able to become proficient with a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code. Must have experience and proficiency working with AC single phase and three phase systems (416OV, 48OV, and 11OV); and DC solid state drives, VFD drives, and motor generator sets.
    • Must be able to work overtime, all shifts, holidays, and weekends.
