Job Overview\- Electrical Switchgear & Control Technician: We are seeking a skilled Switchgear Service and Repair Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining switchgear equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, technical expertise in electrical systems, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities\- Electrical Switchgear & Control Technician:
- Diagnose electrical faults and malfunctions in switchgear equipment through thorough troubleshooting and analysis.
- Perform repairs and replacements of defective components, including circuit breakers, relays, cables, switches, and wiring, to restore functionality.
- Conduct functional tests and verification procedures to ensure proper operation of repaired equipment and compliance with safety standards.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to minimize the risk of future failures, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting switchgear components.
- Respond promptly to emergency service calls, assessing and resolving switchgear issues to minimize downtime and restore power supply.
- Interact professionally with customers, providing updates on repair progress, explaining technical issues, and offering recommendations for equipment maintenance or upgrades.
- Document all service and repair activities accurately, including parts used, testing results, and recommendations for further action.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in switchgear technology to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
Qualifications- Electrical Switchgear & Control Technician:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in electrical or electromechanical field preferred.
- Proven experience as a switchgear technician or similar role, with a strong background in troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment.
- Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to electrical work, including lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
- Travel expectations up to 25% throughout Midwest Region
- OT Available (expect 40-45 hours/weekly on average)
Physical Requirements - Electrical Switchgear & Control Technician:
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and components up to 75lbs.
- Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Physical dexterity and agility to perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and reaching.
