    The Opportunity:

    The Elementary Course Facilitator is responsible for supporting the success of asynchronous, on-demand courses for grades 3–5 at Optima Academy Online. This position requires a Florida-certified teacher to deliver instructional support, manage administrative tasks, and foster meaningful student and parent engagement. Duties for this role include, but are not limited to, providing timely grading and feedback, responding to student and parent inquiries, hosting regular office hours for guidance and tutoring, conducting parent meetings, maintaining accurate student records, tracking and analyzing data, attending faculty and staff meetings, and contributing to curriculum enhancements.

    This role is a full-time, remote position with a focus on teaching core subjects (English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) and upholding the values of classical education.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Instructional Support & Engagement:

    • Facilitate asynchronous learning by monitoring student progress and addressing challenges proactively.
    • Provide grading and constructive feedback on assignments within 48 hours of submission.
    • Respond to student and parent inquiries via email or platform messaging within 24 hours.
    • Host weekly virtual office hours to guide, tutor, and support students.
    • Conduct parent-teacher conferences as needed to discuss academic performance and growth.

    Administrative & Data Management:

    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress in the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Track and analyze student performance data to identify trends and implement support strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with state and school-level reporting requirements.

    Collaboration & Professional Growth:

    • Attend weekly faculty and staff meetings, contributing insights and collaborating with colleagues.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with online and classical education best practices.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum design and instructional methods.

    Community Engagement:

    • Create a positive and differentiated online learning environment that reflects the principles of classical education.
    • Promote character development and a growth mindset among students.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Valid Florida Teaching Certificate for Elementary Education (Grades K–6 or equivalent).
    • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an online or blended learning environment.
    • Proficiency with online Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital tools for education.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Preferred

    • Experience in classical education or familiarity with its principles.
    • Demonstrated ability to engage students in asynchronous environments.
    • Proficiency with the Canvas LMS in particular.
    • Comfort with data-driven instruction and performance tracking.
