Assistant Principal at KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School
KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School is looking for a committed, culturally competent, and dedicated Assistant Principal who will help create a safe and joyful school culture. KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School Assistant Principals push the rigor of teaching and curriculum in the school by providing tools and support needed for teachers and students to grow and succeed. The Assistant Principal will provide strategic coaching to teachers and support staff, plan school-wide professional development, and - in partnership with our teaching and learning team - lead content development in at least one grade level or content area. Reporting to the Principal, the Assistant Principal will also play a key role in student culture and family outreach. The Assistant Principal’s daily schedule could also include approximately 60 minutes of small group student instruction. We are seeking an Assistant Principal who has the power to amplify our children’s potential by creating a school experience that affirms, values, and challenges students each day. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teacher Development and Management Responsibilities
Providing instructional leadership by coaching and developing teachers (Lead Teachers and/or Teaching Fellows) through observation, modeling, analyzing data, co-planning, and co-teaching
Supporting teachers with classroom management, culture, and discipline
Planning and leading professional development
Developing content and managing logistics for school-wide assessments
Collecting and analyzing student achievement data and using data to drive recommendations for instruction
Formally supervising teachers (including performance evaluations at least twice per year)
Developing and enforcing systems of accountability for staff including partnering with Human Resources to implement progressive discipline when necessary
School and Community Culture Responsibilities
Assisting the Principal in teacher recruitment, hiring, and termination
Serving as a liaison for parent concerns and communication
Noticing and naming school wide staff- or student-culture trends for the Principal
Acting on behalf of the Principal and School on school-wide issues including, but not limited to, student intervention and family engagement
Build relationships with families, teachers, students, regional staff, and community stakeholders to promote a collaborative approach to supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development
Promote strong culture through the management of parts of the daily school operations including, but not limited to, arrival/dismissal, lunch/recess, school trips, school events, etc.
School Leadership Responsibilities
Support the development of the Principal’s school-wide vision and take an active role in investing and mobilizing teachers to achieve the collective goals of the school
Own/support the implementation of school priorities in support of the school-wide vision
Provide input and feedback into the strategic planning of the school and identify areas of ownership for self and direct reports
Working closely with the Principal on day-to-day school-wide issues and representing a united school leadership team
Work closely on the Leadership Team to ensure a joyful, supportive, and safe school experience for all staff and students
Regional Responsibilities

Obtain required Admin SEI endorsement
Participate and engage in regional professional development and community events as required
Demonstrated ability to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make reasonable judgments and decisions in a timely manner in accordance with the needs of the school
Self-awareness, flexibility and emotional intelligence to navigate a setting with students who express diverse needs
The consistent use of interpersonal and self-management skills to effectively support behavioral and emotional needs of students to ensure a safe and inclusive environment, as well as build relationships and manage conflict with students, staff, and caregivers
Effective communication skills to perform assigned duties and to meaningfully exchange information with students, staff, families and others in person, through written communication, in front of groups, and on virtual platforms
Physical mobility to move self in various positions in order to execute duties effectively, which may include kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping and reaching overhead
Physical strength sufficient to periodically lift and/or carry 20 pounds of materials or supplies and to physically restrain a student to keep from harming themself and/or others in an emergency situation
Manual dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, there will occasionally be other duties as assigned that staff will engage in to help promote a positive and safe learning environment and culture.

2+ years of full-time teaching experience
Experience coaching/managing others

What We Offer
The minimum base salary for this exempt position is $76,000 to $97,700 (per 1.0 FTE/45 hours per week), depending upon years of relevant experience after your Bachelor's degree and any advanced degrees (+$3,000 for 1st advanced degree and +$1,500 for 2nd advanced degree). The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus—and an annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years, as well as other bonuses, when eligible.
