    Job Description

    Assistant Principal of Student Supports

    KIPP MA is looking for an Assistant Principal of Student Supports who is responsible for creating a vision for and properly executing an academic program that can support a diverse population of learners. They will help create a safe and joyful school culture. They push the rigor of teaching and curriculum in the school. They provide tools and supports needed for teachers and students to grow and succeed. The Assistant Principal of Student Supports will provide individualized coaching to teachers and School Counselors and plan school-wide professional development. This person will play a key role in student culture management and family outreach. The Assistant Principal of Student Support’s daily schedule could also include approximately 60-minutes of small group student instruction.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    School Programming and Classroom Responsibilities

    • Responsible for creating a vision for and supporting all substantially separate programming

    • Coordinate with the Special Education Coordinator to ensure that school is consistently in compliance with all state and federal regulations

    • Develop a vision for and oversee intervention blocks by serving as the lead interventionist of the school and the owner of the RTI process

    Teacher Management and Development Responsibilities

    • Be fully trained on crisis management and serve as the school-based team lead for all student-related crises (example: restraints)

    • Directly manage all Student Support staff including Special Education teachers, MLL Specialists, Interventionist and aides

    • Participate as a full member of the instructional leadership team

    • Ensures behavioral and academic intervention plans are adhered to by school staff

    • Conduct regular whole school walkthroughs to provide feedback to teachers and leaders on the support systems for schools

    • Provide professional development on supporting diverse learners to the coaching teams and ultimately the whole staff

    Regional Responsibilities

    • Embody KIPP MA’s Code of Conduct by acting with integrity, leading with humanity, centering self-awareness and critical consciousness, taking personal responsibility, and engaging productively

    • Obtain required MTEL and/or SEI endorsements with financial support from KIPP MA within the first year of employment

    • Participate and engage in regional professional development and community events as required

    KIPP MA educators are supported in their demanding work by experienced and dedicated leadership and staff who have themselves proven successful in the teaching role. Our leaders maintain consistent school-wide systems and procedures - academic, behavioral, cultural, logistical - designed to permit educators to do their best work.

    In addition to the responsibilities listed above, there will occasionally be other duties as assigned that teachers will engage in to help promote a positive and calm learning environment and culture.

    • 2+ years of full-time teaching experience

    • Experience coaching/managing others

    • Computer literacy and baseline familiarity with Google Suite

    • Bachelor’s Degree required

    • Pass Criminal Background Check

    What We Offer

    The minimum base salary for this exempt position is $76,000 to $97,700 (per 1.0 FTE/45 hours per week), depending upon years of relevant experience after your Bachelor's degree and any advanced degrees (+$3,000 for 1st advanced degree and +$1,500 for 2nd advanced degree). The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus—and an annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years, as well as other bonuses, when eligible.
