    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an Elevator Construction Inspector to be based in New York, NY.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Assists the project Superintendent and/or Project Manager by providing on-site administrative and technical management for a wide range of elevator construction projects.
    • Accountable for the organization and direction of elevator construction activities within assigned area of responsibility, which may be a single area, multi-area or a multi-discipline construction project.
    • Ensures project safety compliance, with a focus on elevator-specific safety regulations.
    • Interfaces with other administrative field staff, field management staff and particularly the Project Superintendent and Project Manager in a coordinated effort.
    • Coordinate with client's resident representatives on jobsite activities within assigned area of operations, particularly regarding elevator installation and testing.
    • Conducts thorough inspections of elevator installations, including mechanical, electrical, and safety systems.
    • Verifies compliance with local, state, and federal elevator codes and regulations.
    • Reviews and approves elevator construction plans and specifications before installation begins.
    • Performs load tests and safety checks on newly installed or modernized elevators.
    • Investigates accidents or malfunctions related to elevator systems and prepares detailed reports.
    • Maintains accurate records of all inspections, tests, and approvals.
    • Provides technical guidance and training to elevator construction teams when necessary.
    • Stays current with evolving elevator technologies and safety standards through ongoing professional development.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum requirements:

    • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

    Preferred requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Project Management, or Environmental Engineering or related degree preferred.
    • Hold all applicable licenses and/or certificates as required by governmental, regional or project contractual requirements for elevator inspection.
    • Must be knowledgeable of applicable safety riders for area of responsibility, especially those pertaining to elevator construction and maintenance.
