  • Responsibilities

    Job Summary

    Treats and transports sick or injured persons to medical facility.

    General Accountabilities

    Responds to instructions from emergency medical dispatcher and drives emergency vehicle to specified location.

    Maintains contact with dispatcher.

    Determines nature and extent of illness or injury to establish necessary first aid procedures or need for additional assistance.

    Administers prescribed first aid treatment at site of emergency, or in specially equipped vehicle.

    Communicates with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and to arrange for reception of patients at treatment facility.

    Assists in removal of patients from emergency scene and transfer of patients to treatment center.

    Assists admitting personnel in obtaining and recording information related to patient's vital statistics and circumstances of emergency.

    Maintains emergency vehicles and medical and communication equipment.

    Provides appropriate documentation in a timely fashion.

    Assists professional medical personnel in emergency treatment administered at medical facility.

    Job Qualifications

    Education: NREMT-B, EMT- B, EMT-A, CPR

    Experience: Appropriate certifications and/or licensures
