    Description: Do you have a background in shelter animal medical care and want to make a difference? Support Ruff Start Rescue’s foster home program by being on call to receive calls from foster homes in regards to animal-related emergencies. Track and clear calls by providing medical support and arranging emergency care if necessary.

    Availability: Remote On-Call during the hours of 6 pm-6 am Monday-Sunday every other week. We are looking for two employees to split the workload and rotate shifts.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Provide timely emergency communication to foster families after business hours.

    • Monitor incoming calls and emergency inquiries to the rescue’s internal vetting department.

    • Gather information to determine if the medical issue can be managed at home and wait for a normal vet visit or if they need immediate medical attention.

    • Coordinate with emergency vet clinics to develop treatment plans that align with Ruff Start Rescue protocols.

    • Track calls via drive spreadsheets, communicate with clinics, and foster homes, and provide updates to the medical manager and director of programs.

    Qualifications:

    • Veterinary knowledge and background preferred 2+ years CVT experience.

    • Access to the internet on a daily basis.

    • Smartphone required

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of people

    • Ability to identify and understand problems and determine appropriate measures to solve them.

    • Familiarity with animals, knowledge of animal behavior, and experience working with animal welfare programs are preferred.

    On-Call pay structure: Monday-Friday on-call shifts are $20/per shift. Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays are $50 per shift. + $20 per situation (Play fluctuates due to call volume: average pay period is around $295)
