The Emergency Room Nurse Practitioner (ER NP) provides high-quality, patient-centered care in a Free Standing emergency department setting. The ER NP is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of acute medical conditions, collaborating with ER physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough physical examinations and obtain detailed patient histories.
Assess and prioritize patient needs in a high-pressure environment.
Diagnose acute and chronic medical conditions.
Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies.
Perform various procedures, such as suturing wounds, inserting IVs, and managing airway emergencies.
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate patient care.
Consult with specialists as needed to ensure comprehensive care.
Provide education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care.
Counsel patients on lifestyle modifications and health maintenance.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and efforts to enhance patient care and safety.
Stay current with medical advancements and best practices in emergency care.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Nursing with a focus on Nurse Practitioner studies.
Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of practice.
Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Previous experience in emergency medicine or critical care preferred.
