    PETSURG & ER4PETS is a specialty and emergency hospital for dogs and cats located in San Diego, CA. Our team of skilled veterinarians specialize in performing minor and major surgeries. We aim to provide the highest quality care for our patients to ensure a comfortable experience and best critical care outcome. Our hospital provides the community with 24 hour urgent and critical care 365 days a year so we are here when clients need us the most. Our hospital has six exam rooms, two surgical suites, and a conference/break room to provide plenty of space to work and relax.     We are seeking full-time and part-time emergency veterinarians to work at our location in San Diego. Proficiency in a specialty is a plus!

    Compensation

    Entry Level: $110,000 - $140,000

    Experienced: $180,000 - $250,000 or more based on experience.

    NO NEGATIVE ACCRUAL

    Base Salary or Percent of Production (ProSal) 15% - 25% or higher for experts in the field.

    Profit Sharing

    Job Summary

    The knowledgeable emergency veterinarian will work professionally as a team with staff to provide exceptional care for emergency or surgical conditions which clients have agreed upon financially in advance.

    Responsibilities

    Provide emergency examinations

    Diagnose illnesses and recommend treatment

    Develop and implement treatment plans

    Perform surgeries such as splenectomy, enterotomy, gastrotomy, ophthalmic, laceration repair, bite wound repair, and mass removal

    Administer life-saving measures such as CPR, oxygen, medications, and intubation

    Perform surgical procedures and postop pain management

    Prescribe medication

    Communicate compassionately to advise and update pet owners on their pet's well-being

    Update and thoroughly complete patient records

    Qualifications

    Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree

    Current veterinary license in California or be able to obtain one prior to starting.

    At least one year of work experience as an emergency veterinarian

    Thorough knowledge of veterinary medical and surgical emergency best practices, proficiency in minor surgeries

    Experience with equipment and anesthesia procedures

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical concepts in simple terms

    Problem-solving, organizational, and team-building skills
