R.K. Tongue Co. is seeking an ambitious and experienced Employee Benefits Account Manager to join our Employee Benefits team.
A successful Account Manager assist with the daily management of the Employee Benefits book of busienss. This role will serve as a key contact to assist clients with managing renewals, assisting the sales team to onboard new clients, and be a consultative partner for small & mid-market businesses in MD, Virginia, and D.C.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented to ensure our clients are receiving the best customer service.
The position will handle daily contact with Employee Benefits clients and prospective clients. The responsibilities of this role include:
Achieve book retention goals. Seek new lines of coverage for current clients and act on cross-sell opportunities.
Assist with the implementation process of new business and renewals, including group meetings, enrollment, submission, and delivery of administrative materials.
Build and maintain relationships with key client contacts by servicing their account.
Stay up to date on the Health Marketplace and current Medicare regulations to serve as a consultative partner to our clients.
Maintain relationships with carrier representatives, staying abreast of new products, carrier procedural changes and market trends. Attend seminars, classes, and carrier meetings to keep abreast of new products available to clients, as opportunities occur.
Ensure clients are up-to-date on compliance requirements (e.g. ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, SPDs, Form 5500s) through meetings, webinars, legislative updates, and other resources.
Liaise between clients and carrier representatives on escalated service issues and problem solving, assuring clients their concerns remain active until verifiably complete.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and related training
Life and Health Insurance License (MD, DC &VA) or willingness to obtain within 45 days of hire.
Proficiency using an electronic filing system and an Agency Management System such as AMS360 to log activities to document client meetings, carrier follow-up, service issues and establish follow-up dates.
Affordable Care Act knowledge or consulting experience a plus.
Must be able to work independently.
Ability to communicate complex rules to clients and employees to achieve and facilitate decision making
High degree of professionalism, must be a self-starter, motivated, and driven to succeed
