Position Overview This is a full-time, in-person position.
As the Employment and Housing Specialist, you will empower young adults and families in Greater Mondawmin and West Baltimore by providing critical support in securing stable housing and achieving economic independence. Additionally, you will drive career development initiatives for high school students and young adults across Baltimore, connecting them to meaningful employment opportunities and equipping them with essential professional skills.
You will play a pivotal role in helping families transition to independent living by navigating housing challenges, while also guiding youth and young adults toward sustainable career pathways and professional success. Through direct support, case management, and strategic programming, you will be instrumental in creating lasting opportunities for stability and growth.
You will work across Elev8 divisions, collaborating with various staff members to provide comprehensive support for participants' housing stability and employment readiness. You will contribute to a coordinated and holistic approach to participant success.
Key Responsibilities Career Development & Youth Programming (75%) - Citywide
Assist high school students and young adults citywide in identifying career goals and developing individualized employment plans
Provide job-readiness workshops focused on resume building, interview preparation, professional skills development, and financial literacy
Build partnerships with local employers and industries to create job placement and internship opportunities for youth
Facilitate career-focused programming in schools and community centers, ensuring students gain exposure to diverse career pathways
Connect participants with job fairs, apprenticeships, and training programs specific to Baltimore’s job market
Housing Assistance (25%) - Greater Mondawmin & West Baltimore
Support young adults and families in Greater Mondawmin & West Baltimore in identifying, securing, and maintaining safe, affordable housing
Develop relationships with landlords, property management companies, and housing authorities to expand housing options
Assist families and young adults in understanding and managing rental agreements, housing applications, and other housing-related processes
Provide crisis intervention and advocacy when clients face housing instability or eviction
Case Management & Data Management (Housing-Specific)
Manage a caseload of 30 housing clients, providing individualized support to help them successfully transition to stable housing
Conduct intake assessments, develop individualized service plans, and monitor client progress aligned with program objectives and best practices
Maintain accurate records and documentation on client interactions, goals, and outcomes
Ensure that all case management activities align with housing stabilization goals
Work collaboratively with other staff members across Elev8 divisions to coordinate services and enhance support efforts
Effectively use data management systems to track client progress, program effectiveness, and reporting requirements
Analyze data to ensure continuous improvement in program effectiveness and participant outcomes
Community Engagement and Resources
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local career opportunities, workforce trends, and employment resources for Baltimore youth
Coordinate with community school coordinators, educators, and youth service providers to integrate career and workforce readiness programs
Organize workshops, seminars, and mentorship sessions on career development, entrepreneurship, tenant rights, and financial literacy
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, education, or a related field preferred
At least 2 years of experience working with youth - particularly in career readiness, job placement, or workforce development
Experience working with youth in foster care, homeless youth, or at-risk populations
Familiarity with local job markets, employment programs, housing policies, and available community resources in Baltimore
Excellent communication, advocacy, and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Knowledge of housing programs, Section 8, or other housing subsidies
Strongly preferred:
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, youth development principles, and career counseling best practices
Bilingual proficiency (salary differential provided)
Location: Greater Mondawmin & West Baltimore (Housing) / Citywide (Employment)
Rate
• $23.08/hr (approximately $48,000 annually)
Work Schedule and Location
• Full-time, in-person position in Baltimore City - some local travel between work sites as needed
