MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor or AA in Early Childhood Education or preferred or related field, or 30 Child-Care Training Hours
Must continue State Training and Registry Systems (STARS) hours as required by the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) of Washington State and updated status in MERIT.
Maintain First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP), Background, TB, and CPR/AED.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will handle the day-to-day operations of the Toddler/Preschool Classroom. Your duties would include, but are not limited to:
Model and Integrate the Christian Virtues of FLS of love, joy, kindness, goodness/generosity, self-control, peace, integrity, faithfulness in the learning environment.
Provide a physically and emotionally safe environment for young children both indoors and outdoors.
Maintain clear communication with the co-teacher and parents regarding strategies to assist with child development.
Responsible for emotional and physical health and safety of children and completing accident reports/injury forms as needed as well as medication logs.
Assess, document and use the Brightwheel curriculum to develop lesson plans based on developmental domains.
Conducting twice yearly parent-teacher conferences and ongoing partnering with families.
Communicate with families via a monthly newsletter about the happenings in the classroom.
Tend to children’s personal hygiene needs, remaining especially attentive to them during routines such as restroom, diaper changing, mealtime, and changing soiled or wet clothes.
Sitting with children during mealtimes, modeling values-neutral language about food and culturally competent feeding practices.
Conduct developmental screenings and on-going assessments of toddlers/preschoolers to measure development of motor, language, social, cognitive, and emotional skills.
Maintaining an ongoing and comprehensive developmental portfolio assessment for each child, using observations, examples of the child’s play-based learning, and a developmental continuum.
Using the playground as an extension of the classroom.
Completing timely, neat, and accurate documentation of screenings, assessments, individualized plans, attendance, and other documentation as deemed necessary for providing quality services.
Maintaining a safe, clean, environment, practicing good personal hygiene and hand washing, and assures the well-being and safety of all the children in that environment.
Utilizing disciplinary measures appropriate as outlined in the FLS Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Actively supervise children on the playground and classroom by scanning, counting, listening, classroom design, position, anticipating behaviors and using Brightwheel.
Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in school activities; to include chapel.
Maintain confidentiality of children’s health and PII (Personal Identifiable Information), only sharing information with those who have a need to know.
Complete (5) five SMART Performance Goals based on your job description, WA Core Competencies, ECE Domains, or ECE Professional Development for the year.
WORKING CONDITIONS / NATURE OF WORK
Maintain staff/child ratio of 1:7 for each toddler teacher: 1:10 preschoolers.
Possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids or tissues.
Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
This position requires standing for long periods of time, as well as squatting, running, and general. up and down motions from child level to adult level.
Must be able to lift 55 pounds and respond appropriately to an emergency or crisis.
WAGE AND BENEFITS
This is a 10-month position.
Additional hours may be available.
