    Axillon Aerospace is seeking a dedicated and skilled Engineer 2, Mechanical to join our Engineering department at our Rockmart facility. This full-time, regular position is ideal for a mid-career professional with a passion for innovation in the aerospace and defense industry. As an Engineer 2, Mechanical, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, systems, and equipment that meet the rigorous standards of aerospace applications. Your work will directly contribute to the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our aerospace products. Key responsibilities include conducting analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design specifications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve complex engineering issues, and ensuring that all mechanical systems and components operate according to design specifications. You will also be responsible for preparing technical reports, documentation, and presenting findings to management and stakeholders. Additionally, you will assist in the mentorship of junior engineers and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and engineering processes. The successful candidate will be expected to stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure Axillon Aerospace remains at the forefront of aerospace innovation. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.     Required Skills

    Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience. Required: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering orsSimilar. Preferred: Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

    · Provide mechanical design expertise to support new product development or improve existing products

    · Perform value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs

    · Provide technical support for new projects and evaluate the requirements and implications

    · Maintain project files and appropriate records of work

    · Act as a lead, providing knowledge and expertise for colleagues

    · Reduce costs and improve mechanical design and development processes using best practices and professional knowledge

    · Ensure compliance with established engineering standards and practices

    · Contribute to engineering department delivery and quality metrics

    · Evaluate product discrepancies for functional impact and participate in Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations

    · Other responsibilities as assigned

    · Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

    · Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary. Limited work from home schedule is available.

    Required Experience

    · Demonstrated expertise with complex mechanical engineering solutions

    · Proficient with 2D drawing standards and requirements including GD&T

    · Exposure to 3D modeling: CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks; ENOVIA experience a plus

    · Project management skills and experience

    · Ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge

    · Ability to make sound decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

    · Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to work in cross-functional teams and drive tasks to completion

    · Ability to interact with customers and suppliers

    · Self-starter and independent thinker

    · Experience with applying RCCA tools is a plus

    · MS Office including Project; SAP is a plus

    · Approximately 10% travel required
