    Job Description

    Hummingbird Scientific is actively looking for an Engineering Physicist to join our team. In this position, you will collaborate closely with the rest of our Engineering team, contributing to the design of precision instruments for in-situ microscopy.     As an Engineering Physicist on our team, you will have a vital role with a variety of responsibilities. This includes applying advanced mathematical skills to tackle engineering challenges, designing and constructing experimental systems, and performing comparative analyses. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in engineering physics and hands-on experience in (scientific) system building.

    Qualifications

    Key Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated ability to work from first principles to translate theoretical knowledge into practical solutions
    • Demonstrated experience in designing and constructing systems for experiments
    • Experience with electronics, micro-controllers and circuit design
    • Programming language – C, C++, C#, python, etc.
    • Experience with simulation and modeling software (e.g., MATLAB, COMSOL)

    **Education & Experience **

    • Master’s or PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a related field
    • Strong Applied Physics or Experimental Physics background with a focus on experimental system design.

    Optional Qualifications

    • Experience with building vacuum-based experimental chambers
    • Prototyping and CAD experience
    • Experience working with third parties to have the parts machined
