    One of our clients in Silverdale, WA needs an Engineering Tech, Mechanical for a contract position.

    Position: Engineering Tech, Mechanical

    Location: Silverdale, WA

    Position Type: Contract

    Salary: $40.52 - 44.56 per hour plus OT

    Clearance: Top Secret

    Travel: 20%

    Essential Functions:

    Forecast, schedule, accomplish, document, perform maintenance and audit records associated with preventive and corrective maintenance on marine mechanical equipment and systems such as HVAC, electrical generators to include tier 1 -4 marine diesels including DEF systems, emission controls, cooling systems, fluids/filter changes, valve lash adjustment, start-up/shutdown, gasket replacement, engine health trend analysis, engine battery charging systems, open loop and closed loop hydraulic systems (including pumps, hoses, piping, fittings, filtering equipment, manually operated hydraulic valves, air operated hydraulic valves, electrically operated hydraulic valves, ”drive-by-wire” hydraulic equipment), potable water systems (including pumps, storage tanks, valves, filters), marine raw water ballast and firefighting systems (including pumps, transfer systems, piping, strainers, vents, air-blow-downs), globe valves, gate valves(rising and non-rising stem), plug-cock valves butterfly valves, compressed air systems (including compressors, regulators, filters, piping, fittings, hoses), ability to sound tanks and draw samples of fuel oil and hydraulic oil, potable water, and ballast.

    Operate and mechanically maintain electric bridge cranes and hydraulic pedestal cranes (or experience with similar cranes) including travel/rotate/swing/trolley/hoist brakes, hoist drums, structural inspection, and load bearing/controlling parts inspection. Select and properly use rigging equipment (shackles/slings/swivel hoist rings/master links/ pear rings/ chain bridles/ wire rope slings/ pad-eyes) to perform complex lift and non-complex lifts with single cranes and multiple cranes. Prepare and maintain crane equipment history/maintenance jackets per NAVFAC P-307. Perform duties of a crane rigger/crane operator/rigger in charge. Experience with lifting and pulling winch operation and maintenance is preferred as well.

    Perform work as assigned by a supervisor in all weather conditions indoors and outdoors. Maintain a clean and organized shop. Lift and carry 50 plus pounds. Properly use PPE (eyewear, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, clothing, safety toe shoes, personal floatation, fall protection harness/lanyards. Work well with others as a team and independently.

    Perform adequate custodial duties to maintain shop and facility cleanliness.

    Must be able to complete and maintain a DOT medical/physical exam as required to operate forklifts and cranes.

    Must be comfortable working in a marine environment on or near the water, on boats, barges, and piers, and making up mooring lines and shore power connections.

    Operates, maintains and repairs M241 barge primary and auxiliary mechanical systems equipment including two Detroit diesel 275 kw generators, two 30-ton DEMAG bridge cranes, one 22-ton Hydrapro pedestal crane, two electric McElroy mooring winches, LP service air compressor, fuel oil storage and transfer system, potable water storage and transfer system, raw water ballasting system, firefighting system, and Carrier HVAC system.

    Required education and experience:

    Minimum 15 years of commercial experience or 8 years of military experience with transferable MOS/NEC/A school/C school/Aux package training/NNPS experience.

    Minimum 10 years of commercial experience or 5 years of military experience under NAVFAC P-307.

    2+ years of related experience in packing machines/production machines.

    Basic experience with Microsoft programs.

    Preferred education and experience:

    OSHA Certification(s).
