    Summit Technical Solutions (STS) is seeking an Engineering Tech III for our ATR contract, located in Dam Neck, VA. The Engineering Tech III works on BQM-74/BQM-177 targets and various types of electronic equipment and related devices by performing one or a combination of the following: Installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, constructing, and testing equipment.

    General Description

    The Engineering Tech III works on BQM-74/BQM-177 targets and various types of electronic equipment and related devices by performing one or a combination of the following: Installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, constructing, and testing equipment.

    Primary Responsibilities

    This position requires practical application of electronics repair, ability to determine malfunctions, and skill to return equipment to required operating condition. The equipment consists of many different types of circuits or multiple repetitions of the same type of circuits and includes but is not limited to the electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (radar, radio, and navigational aids), digital and analog computers, and industrial measuring and controlling equipment. The Engineering Technician III will receive technical guidance as required from a supervisor or higher-level technician, and work tasks will be reviewed to ensure compliance with accepted practices and specific work assignments.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems (those that can be solved by properly interpreting manufactures manuals or similar documents, on electronic equipment.
    • Maintains associated ground support equipment, repairs, inspects, troubleshoots as required.
    • Prepares or applies technical or maintenance specifications, standards and procedures using provided technical manuals and instructions.
    • Aviation aircraft electronics, electrician or mechanic preferred.
    • Assembles electronic/mechanical components following predetermined methods and criteria.
    • Adjusts, repairs, and modifies systems, using approved Navy and Industry publications, which include maintenance procedures, diagrams, schematics and locally established Standard Operating Procedures. (SOP’s).
    • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, units as directed.
    • Perform all job-related tasks as directed.

    Required Skills

    Skills/Certifications

    Required:

    • Must be able to operate a Forklift up to 8K.
    • Set up and operate standard electronic testing equipment.
    • Utilize hand-power tools, and basic hand tools and general machine power tools.
    • Familiar with standardized concepts, practices and procedures within the instrumentation/navigational field.
    • Possess a valid state drivers’ license. CDL with hazard class endorsement a plus.
    • Possess a DOT Explosives physical and obtain a Medical Examiners Certificate or be able to obtain and maintain.

    Preferred:

    • Overhead Crane experience preferred.

    Experience

    Required:

    • Requires a minimum of 4 years of experience performing stated functions.
    • 4 years of technical experience is required.
    • Positions Level will be assessed and based on experience.

    Education

    Required:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

    Preferred:

    • Engineering/Electronics/Electrician Technician AA/AS degree or related curriculum from and accredited college or university. Successful completion of technical school, trade school or advanced armed services technical school. Or completed 30 semester (45 credit hours) in related studies from an accredited institution.

    Travel

    Ability to travel 20-30% of the year. (May deploy from 1-6 weeks to shore based activities for target operations, and various types of support vessels to augment small boat operations.
