    Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism and planning (including landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our Michigan studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Science and Technology, Higher Education, and Federal market sectors. We look to combine beauty, sustainability, resiliency, equity, and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget.

    Some of our recent projects include the Shell Technology Center Campus Revisioning, the City of Chicago Joint Public Safety Training Campus, the Illinois Autonomous and Connected Track, and a new corporate global headquarters. Our Chicago studio also designs all the AECOM offices, nationally.

    AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Electrical Engineer to be based in the Detroit or Grand Rapids, MI office.

    This position is expected to begin in May 2025.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
    • Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
    • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
    • Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
    • Research and apply building code, regulatory, and industry code requirements
    • Prepare electrical design calculations, and utilize electrical design software
    • Work under the supervision of a mid or senior-level team member

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally to all AECOM, partner, and client office locations, including project offices, if applicable.
    • Ability to perform site investigations and walk-downs in high-voltage substations and along electrified railroads.
    • Power System courses and interest in Power System Design.
    • Ability or willingness to learn how to utilize CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit).
