Job Description
Drive Engineering is currently seeking a highly motivated entry-level ITS/Traffic Designer working under the direction of a licensed engineer to complete various tasks related to transportation, ITS, and traffic engineering projects. An opportunity to work on both traffic engineering and ITS projects will be provided with a career track to pursue either or both in the future. The candidate will be expected to work full-time on site in the Center City office.
Requirements
BS or MS Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
· Engineer-In-Training or Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate.
Course work related to transportation, ITS, electrical wiring, and/or communications network design.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Prepare traffic and crash analyses, technical memos, and traffic engineering reports in accordance with PennDOT and other industry publications.
Conduct field investigations and data collection including traffic counts.
Analyze and summarize crash reports.
Perform traffic operations analyses for diverse projects, from individual intersections to complex urban arterial networks and major freeway systems.
Prepare signal warrant studies, signal calculations and timing analyses.
Assist with developing traffic signal plans, traffic control plans, signing plans, pavement marking plans, ADA curb ramp plans, and ITS plans.
Assist with developing meeting minutes, specifications, quantities, and estimates.
Work collaboratively with other team members, consultants and our clients.
Represent Drive Engineering at industry events and networking opportunities.
Preferred Competencies
Excellent time management, communication skills, and willingness to learn.
· Outstanding attention to detail; able to review and back check own work.
Familiarity with PennDOT ITS or traffic engineering standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO guidelines.
Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, and/or PTV Vissim.
Ability to travel to project meetings/field views throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Ability to work from client facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Work Location
Philadelphia, PA (Center City).
Candidate must be willing to occasionally report to the Landsdale, PA office.
Candidate may be asked to fill a part-time staffing position on-site at PennDOT District 6 in King of Prussia.
