    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Structural Engineer to support the AECOM Water, Structures Department in our New Orleans or Houston office. AECOM is searching for candidates who can be a role model, client-focused, impactful, and decisive.

    Entry-level technical new hires are eligible to participate in AECOM's Graduate Development Program (GDP), a program designed to support assimilation into the organization, help with technical development planning toward licensure (or other early technical milestones), and create a foundation of knowledge necessary for future career success.

    This position is expected to begin in Jan or June 2025.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Performing assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to build analytic and design skills and further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
    • Performing assignments related to the design, analysis, rehabilitation, and inspection of Water infrastructure and ancillary structures.
    • Using computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
    • Exercising judgment limited to developing work details in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
    • Preparing engineering-related designs, calculations, sketches, visual aids, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
    • Performing work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
    • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or a clear path to obtain within the next six months
    • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar)
    • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and mechanics
    • Basic knowledge of building codes and construction standards
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Previous internship experience in structural engineering is a plus

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer, reviewing plans, or conducting site visits.
    • Capacity to move around project sites, climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain.
    • Occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds of equipment or materials.

    Additional Information

    Compensation
    The base salary for this role is competitive, with a range of $78,000 - $95,000, determined by experience, education, and skills. KPFF also offers performance-based bonuses to recognize outstanding contributions. Additional details about the full compensation package will be provided during the interview process.
