    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY: Personally, or by working with other company and/or contract personnel strive to keep Iron Senergy in compliance with environmental regulations pertaining to NPDES water treatment, erosion and sediment control plans, reclamation plans, SMCRA permit requirements, wastewater treatment operations, above ground and underground storage tanks, water withdrawals, hazardous waste cleanup and disposal, and other coal mining related activities.

    • Inspect drainage control structures to determine permit design compliance and treatment effectiveness and then develop written plan to improve each.
    • Develop E& S control plans for smaller construction sites.
    • Direct reclamation activities including backfilling, grading, drainage structure removal, and revegetation; manage contractors completing activities.
    • Work with environmental staff to identify NPDES compliance issues and engineer corrective action plans.
    • Evaluate and modify water treatment systems as needed to assist environmental staff with correcting AMD treatment problems.
    • Assist other personnel and contractors in the design, permitting, and construction of water conveyance systems
    • Develop and review compliance plans with various Local, State, and Federal agency stakeholders.
    • Provide technical assistance and direction to environmental contractors, electrical crew, and reclamation crews regarding oil spill and PCB sampling, cleanup, and disposal.
    • Conduct all work activities in compliance with Federal and State laws and Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Environmental/Civil Engineering or related science/engineering field is required. A PE license is strongly desired.
    • Proficient personal computer skills in AutoCAD, ESRI, HEC-RAS, SedCad, word processing, spreadsheets, and database allocation required.
    • Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to air, water, mining and reclamation, solid and hazardous waste.
    • The employee must be able to follow specific instructions while maintaining acceptable established standards of work performance and conduct, show the necessary and consistent energy, as well as acceptable mental and physical dexterity, for the satisfactory completion of the essential duties as summarized and defined.
    • The employee must exhibit acceptable interpersonal skills and the continuous ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere.
    • Experience in the identification and treatment of mine drainage is highly desired.

    Good oral and written communication skills are required for interacting with various governmental, contractor, and company personnel. Good map reading and blue print reading skills are necessary. Although not mandatory, water and wastewater operator’s licensure provides needed technical knowledge and continued education for this job.
