Position Overview
Our Client is looking for a highly motivated Environmental Compliance Specialist to support their clients on a local, regional, and national scale. This role involves evaluating the compliance status of industrial facilities, assisting with environmental permit applications, and ensuring adherence to environmental obligations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in navigating regulations and preparing technical documents, and will be committed to providing pragmatic, cost-effective compliance strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and revise various U.S. EPA and state-required regulatory written programs, such as SPCC Plans, stormwater management plans, groundwater protection plans, and waste minimization plans.
- Complete annual Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act reports, including Tier 2 and Form R submissions.
- Document and report air emissions.
- Conduct environmental regulatory research.
- Complete environmental permit applications for media including wastewater, stormwater, and air emissions.
- Perform environmental sample collection, monitoring, and reporting, including hazardous waste characterization sampling, stormwater sampling, and wastewater sampling.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- At least four years of professional-level experience is desired; prior experience in environmental consulting is preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication, presentation, and organizational skills; experience in writing detailed technical reports and plans.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects for various clients; candidates must be detail-oriented, assertive, and exhibit good listening and note-taking skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, particularly Microsoft Excel functions and formulas.
- Regular local and regional travel to client locations, with occasional national travel possible; approximately 25% overnight travel, generally not exceeding 1-2 nights.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight in certain situations.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in various weather conditions, climb ladders, and navigate multiple flights of stairs, including work at elevated locations such as rooftops and tank farms.
