    Job Description

    Inland Empire Paper Company seeks an experienced individual to join our Environmental team. This role will have responsibilities for our environmental impact, including regulatory compliance of water, wastewater, air, solid waste, and hazardous waste. Expertise and knowledge in federal, state, and local regulations, environmental law, total maximum daily loads (TMDLs), NPDES and air operating permit negotiations and development, public relations, dispute resolution, government relations and strategy development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Primary responsibility for regulatory permit maintenance and renewal (Title V Air Operating Permit, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)), including inspections, testing, compliance events
    • Establish relationships and primary liaison with regulatory and legislative representatives
    • Participate in the development of legal, regulatory and legislative strategies to address environmental challenges
    • Primary responsibility for the development of various environmental reports:
      • Air - Emissions Inventory, Semi-Annual and Annual Monitoring and Compliance, Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Boiler MACT compliance
      • Water - NPDES related reports, including Annual Status Reports, Pollutant Minimization and Best Management Practice Plans, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures, Wastewater Treatment Operation & Maintenance Manual updates
      • Waste - TurboWaste Dangerous Waste, Solid Waste & Recycling Reports, waste profiles
      • Chemical Management - Tier II Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know, Toxic Release Inventory
    • Represent IEP in various environmental and business trade organizations and committees
    • Support the management of IEP’s Natural Gas Line. Knowledge of WA Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC) and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations are a benefit.
    • Public relations representative with Regulators, Legislators, Stakeholders, Community Members, Neighbors, etc.
    • Support mill operations in the technical development, troubleshooting and problem solving of issues related to environmental compliance
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry or Biology.
    • Knowledge of environmental regulatory policies and procedures.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret and clarify complex environmental issues.
    • Must be very detailed oriented and well organized to properly manage and successfully maintain all environmental compliance requirements.

    Additional Information

    • The environmental engineer is a salaried position. Pay range is $75k to $95k per year depending on experience and education.
