    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an Environmental Engineering Intern to be based in Rocky Hill, CT.

    This position is expected to begin in June 2025.

    The Environmental Engineering Intern will work with a diverse team of engineers, project managers and technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services in New England.

    The responsibilities of this position will be overseen by experienced engineers and project managers and will include, but are not limited to:

    • Project Field and Office Support for Site Assessment and Remediation Projects.
    • Assist with and learn environmental field work, including soil logging, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging and oversight of field subcontractors, drilling, well installation, development operations and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
    • Work on interesting, fast-paced projects with the opportunity to learn and expand skills.
    • Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
    • Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories.
    • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
    • Builds analytic and design skills.
    • Frequently lifting, carrying, and loading equipment such as sample coolers, without assistance up to 50lbs.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
    • Must have completed 1 year of study in the applicable program.
    • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizen is required for this role.
    • Valid US driver’s license and successful completion of AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review. Position requires frequent traveling to field locations in personal vehicle. Locations and distances vary and could include occasional overnight travel and operation of rental vehicle.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper is strongly desirable.
    • Previous experience operating a full-size pickup truck or large sport utility vehicle.
    • Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.
    • Mechanical aptitude is strongly desired.
    • Relevant professional work or internship experience is desirable.
    • Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are desirable.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.
    • Strong research and report writing.

    Additional Information

    • Relocation is not available for this position.
    • Position requires frequent travel within 1 to 2 hours of office and occasional overnight travel.
