    Job Description

    AECOM has an opening for an Environmental Engineering Technician at our Amarillo, TX site. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, reliable and have good interpersonal communication skills.

    Job Description Summary

    • Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.
    • Sets up and operates standard testing equipment of moderate complexity.
    • Performs fieldwork, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
    • Operates heavy equipment, including a tractor and attachments.
    • Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Collection of soil and groundwater samples.
    • Mechanically inclined with experience operating and maintaining remediation systems, including air sparge and biovent systems.
    • Engagement in behavior-based safety programs.

    Minimum Requirement:

    • HS diploma +6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
    • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security pre-employment background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive and require periodic post-employment background checks.
    • Ability to pass a client-mandated drug test.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to travel to various client sites locations using a AECOM provided Vehicle to conduct fieldwork, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections.
    • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable environmental conditions include heat, dust, noise, and dryness.
    • Conducting fieldwork and wearing associated personal protective equipment, including but not limited to gloves, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, and hearing protection.
    • This position requires frequent (more than 50% of the workday) standing/walking, and operation of vehicles; often (25-50% of the workday) performing keyboard/mouse operations, working alone in isolated/remote areas, and lifting less than 25 pounds; occasionally (10-25% of the workday) performing repetitive ending/stooping, power ripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), operation of heavy, moving or dangerous equipment, and lifting of 25-50 pounds; rarely (less than 10% of the workday) working with arms above shoulder level, in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, using portable ladders, performing repetitive or fine hand movements, and working on electrical circuits.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with various media sampling (soil, groundwater, and waste).
    • Experience with health and safety programs, and effective communication skills (verbal, field notes, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
