Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the EHS specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring the Cleveland plant complies with local, state, and federal regulations across environmental and health aspects by conducting audits, developing plans, training employees, investigating accidents and incidents, and monitoring potential hazards to maintain a safe workplace.
** Key duties include but not limited to the following:**
****• Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs and initiatives that align with the organization's goals and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations. Keep abreast of changes in regulations and assess their impact on company operations.
• Design and conduct EHS training programs for employees at all levels to promote a strong safety culture. Ensure all employees are aware of EHS policies and procedures.
• Lead investigations of workplace incidents, near misses, and environmental incidents. Analyze findings to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of workplace practices and environmental compliance. Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls.
• Oversee waste management and environmental compliance activities, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records related to EHS activities, including inspections, audits, and compliance reports.
** Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:**
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in environmental health and safety roles in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.
• Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) is a plus.
• Relevant certifications a plus (CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE).
** Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check, pre-placement physical and pre-employment drug-screen.**
