    Summary Statement :

    The EHS Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Company's environmental programs and strategies. This position requires strict adherence to safety procedures and compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulations. A strong work ethic, including reliable attendance, punctuality, and a commitment to timely completion of tasks, is essential.

    Education/Experience :

    - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a shipyard or manufacturing environment where relevant laws and regulations are applied.
    - Self-motivated and capable of performing duties with minimal supervision.
    - Strong communication skills for effective interaction with supervisors and team members.
    - Ability to identify and report problems and discrepancies to the appropriate departments.
    - Review regulatory standards from federal and Rhode Island state agencies to ensure compliance.
    - Assist in developing and structuring company environmental standards and practices based on federal and state regulations; maintain accurate records for all programs.
    - Conduct audits for environmental programs.
    - Gather toxicological information on paints and chemicals for the NESHAPs program; prepare the semiannual NESHAPs report.
    - Develop and implement systems to ensure compliance with the SENESCO Air Permit.
    - Administer the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program and the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures program.
    - Ensure compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, including hazardous waste management and proper waste classification.
    - Comply with EPCRA 302-313 requirements.
    - Assist in injury management processes and conduct injury investigations.
    - Evaluate personal protective equipment (PPE) and incorporate findings into the PPE program.
    - Conduct new hire orientation and manage the HAZCOM program, including annual training.
    - Cross-trained in safety and industrial hygiene management tasks.
    - Update and deliver employee training programs related to hazardous materials and waste.
    - Perform comprehensive audits to ensure compliance with all environmental and safety programs.
    - Serve as a member of the SENESCO Emergency Response Team.
    - Capable of teaching fundamental principles of environmental safety.
    - Adhere to work schedules and maintain a clean work environment.
    - Wear personal protective equipment as required by the job hazard analysis.
    - Physically able to work in all areas of the shipyard and may require certification for electric and gas-powered boom lifts.
    - Complete additional tasks as assigned by a supervisor.

    Physical Demands :

    - Vision must be correctable to 20/40; contact lenses may be restricted in certain production areas.

    - Must pass the Ishihara test for color blindness and comprehend safety symbols and colors.

    - Pass a pulmonary function exam if respiratory protection is required.

    - Ability to stand, sit, walk, squat, kneel, stoop, or climb stairs/ladders.

    - Capable of performing overhead work with full range of motion.

    - No claustrophobia; must work in confined spaces when necessary.

    - Ability to maneuver through openings as small as 18 by 23 inches and crawl into awkward positions.

    - Ability to maintain static positions for extended periods.

    - Good balance and capability to stand on each foot for 30 seconds or longer.

    - No fear of heights; may work at elevations exceeding 50 feet on scaffolding or mechanical lifts.

    - Able to carry tools and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.

    Work Demands :

    - Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, hard hats, face shields, safety goggles, steel-toe safety shoes, safety harnesses, gloves, and other protective clothing as determined by the Senesco Marine Job Hazard Analysis.

    - Report all accidents or injuries to a supervisor and the Environmental Safety and Health Department.

    - Report any equipment damages or misuse of tools to a supervisor.

    - Work in various environments, both indoors and outdoors.

    - Maintain a pace consistent with meeting company deadlines.
